RNLI Field of Lights
07 November 2024
This year the RNLI have reached a huge milestone and are celebrating their 200th Anniversary. To help mark this special occasion artist Bruce Munro has donated his piece, “Field of Lights”, to the RNLI to help raise funds for the charity. British artist Bruce Munro is best known for producing large, immersive light-based installations, which often employ a massing of components by the thousands. Bruce completed a B.A. in Fine Arts at Bristol in 1982, and shortly after, he moved to Sydney where he worked in design and lighting, inspired by Australia’s natural light and landscape. The outstanding art installation will feature an array of 20,000 lowlight, fibre-optic stemmed lights that will illuminate with a slow, subtle change of hue. It will be available to view 4pm – 10pm from October 5th 2024 until 10th January 2025, and the best viewing spot will be from the Salcombe town estuary front where the Field of Light is visible on the opposite shore of the estuary.Don’t miss the opportunity to see this brilliant artwork; join us for a winter getaway and experience it for yourself.
